4WD for Sale, Barn Find 1970 Land Rover Series 2A Station Wagon

Found these British four wheels drive vehicles are produced by Land Rover. As the picture is a barn find Right-hand drive car it's a Land Rover Series 2A long wheelbase commonly known as Safari Station Wagon 109 was released in 1970 and has been stored in a straw farm barn for nearly 5 years.

Genuine Factory produced 1970 Land Rover Series 2A Safari Station Wagon LWB 109 6 cylinder petrol.
Stored in straw farm barn for nearly 5 years.
In original condition.
Purchased in 2011 and drove from Hereford to North Norfolk (in excess of 200 miles) including stretches of the M5 and M6 faultlessly.
Got as far as repainting roof in cream but circumstances meant that never got as far as repainting body in green, so still has original patina gained from its 45 year life.
Previous owner was elderly gentleman who attended steam rallies (see photo of yellow sticker in the back window) with a stationary engine he transported in the back, hence the rear bench seats having been removed. Unfortunately he became to old to drive and had to part with the Land Rover.

Last MOT expired September 2011 but put in barn prior to this. The most recent MOT certificates show the following milages:
MOT Sep 2008 54,530 miles
MOT Sep 2009 54,794 miles
MOT Aug 2010 55,043 miles

Current milage of just over 55,000 and could well be genuine as when drove back from Hereford the gears and drive were all nice and tight.
Being a factory produced 2.6 6 cylinder in Station Wagon form (lots of seats with roof vents for ventilation), it is an extremely rare machine, particular so bearing in mind it is the very last of the Series 2 A model with headlights in the wings and with metal mash grill (the Series 3 which superseded it had a plastic grill and plastic dash board).
The 2.6 was the considerably smoother and more powerful higher spec model and it has a different bulkhead (compared to the common 2.25 engined models) to accomodate the longer engine. Many were converted to slow diesel engines so finding one with original engine is rare.
Starts greart and runs well. Drove around the farm yard after taking the photos and all working OK however, brakes now need bleeding.
High/Low, 2WD and 4WD.
V5C present. Various tax discs going back to 1995 included.
ID Number, as well as being stamped onto the VIN plate inside the cab, is also clearly stamped into the front of teh chassis, where it was done in at the factory in 1970.
Body sits straight with good panel gaps for a Land Rover. Original chassis. No obvious holes.
Original rear light lenses. Original pressed aluminium number plates front and rear. Nice registration number too.
4 matching Goodyear G90 tyres.
Tax exempt – classed as historic vehicle with DVLA. Classic insurance less than £100 per year.

Lots of character and great fun old vehicle to enjoy at weekends or going to the pub. Will go as well across a field and down a track as well as down a road.

Barn now cleared of straw, and now no space to keep Land Rover hence needs to go to new home.
