This is a 1961 Scout 80 4x4. First year produced by International Harvester company. This one is about as stock as you can get. Most Scouts have seen many modifications over the years as evidenced by numerous owners and eventually being relegated to simply a utility vehicle to take the brunt of much abuse. This Scout doesn't seem as if it were abused. It has the stock 152 4 cylinder engine with the three speed transmission and Dana 18 two speed transfer case. It has Dana 27 axles with 4.27 gears. This Scout still retains its original sliding front windows which are removable. The full steel top is also removable. The windshield can optionally be folded down when the top is removed. It has the original and hard to find 16 inch steel wheels. Most Scouts had 15 inch. The tires are in good condition.
This Scout starts, runs, and drives ok. It has all makings of a daily driver or someone's perfect weekend cruiser. This scout is not a show winner. Has an older repaint over some body work in the quarter panels, rocker panels and lower front fenders. The rear floor also has been replaced with steel riveted over the original. Front floors were also replaced at some point in its life but the job is halfway decent.
Things that this Scout could use in terms of repairs: A new set of window slide gaskets, the original ones are brittle. One window slide handle is also missing. The speedometer recently stopped working, and while recently replaced, the brakes need some tuning.
All other aspects of the Scout are working as they should. All lights, turn signals, heater. There are no immediate repairs needed to hit the road other than a normal tune-up and fluid change/check would be certainly wise for the new owner.
